Pune, Maharashtra – May 27, 2024 – The highly publicized Pune Porsche crash case has taken a disturbing turn with the arrest of two senior doctors from Sassoon General Hospital for allegedly tampering with the blood samples of the 17-year-old accused teen. This raises serious concerns about a potential attempt to influence the investigation into the accident that claimed two lives.
The Allegation:
Pune Police Commissioner, Amitesh Kumar, informed the press conference that Dr. Ajay Taware, head of the hospital’s forensic medicine department, and Dr. Shrihari Harnor conspired to replace accused teen’s blood sample with one that did not contain alcohol. This action, if proven true, would constitute a serious breach of medical ethics and potentially obstruct justice.
The Evidence:
Police investigations uncovered inconsistencies in the handling of the blood sample. CCTV footage reportedly showed a significant delay in collecting the blood sample after the accident on May 19th. Additionally, sources within the hospital claim that the boy wasn’t taken for a mandatory medical examination during the sample collection process. These discrepancies raise questions about the chain of custody and the integrity of the initial blood sample.
The Developments:
Following these red flags, police investigators ordered the re-testing of teenager’s blood samples stored at a different medical facility. The results of these re-tests are yet to be officially revealed. However, based on the inconsistencies and potential tampering, the police arrested Dr. Taware and Dr. Harnor on May 25th.
The Accusations:
The teen is accused of driving a Porsche Taycan under the influence of alcohol, resulting in the tragic deaths of two young IT professionals, Ashwini Koshta and Aneesh Awadhiya. Public outcry erupted after Aditya was initially granted bail by the Juvenile Justice Board. Following intense public pressure and a review application from the police, Aditya was remanded to an observation home until June 5th.
The Family Connection:
The case has also drawn scrutiny to teen’s family. His father, Vishal Agarwal, a real estate developer, was previously arrested for allegedly threatening and offering money to the family’s driver to take blame for the accident. Teen’s grandfather, Surendra Agarwal, also faced arrest for allegedly illegally confining the driver. Both Vishal and Surendra Agarwal remain in judicial custody.
The Aftermath:
The tampering allegations have severely tarnished public trust in the investigation and the healthcare system. Calls for a swift, thorough, and impartial probe are intensifying. The Pune Police have assured the public of a transparent investigation and vowed to bring all those involved, at any level, to justice.
This case highlights the critical importance of upholding ethical standards within the medical and legal systems. As the investigation unfolds, all eyes are on the re-tested blood sample results and the potential consequences for those implicated in this disturbing turn of events.
