The 17-year-old lad from Pune is still being held in remand custody. Outrage over the occurrence has spread across the nation, prompting discussions about road safety, parental accountability, and the accused’s quick release on bail—which was later revoked.
Aneesh Awadhia, 24, and Ashwini Koshta, 24, were riding their motorcycles home after a night out when they were allegedly struck from behind by the teenager’s fast Porsche. According to police accounts, when the car crashed, it was reaching 160 km/h (100 mph), which is a dangerous speed.
The two riders were fatally injured in the strong hit that caused the motorcycle to disintegrate. According to reports, the adolescent, whose identity is being withheld because of his age, was unharmed.
The teen’s father, a well-known builder in Pune, allegedly tried to escape the city after the disaster. But because he let his minor kid operate the powerful car, authorities were able to capture him and file charges against him.
After being arrested, the adolescent was first released on bail after 15 hours, which caused a public uproar. The bail judgment was quickly reversed as a result of growing public pressure and media attention.
